Emerson Montgomery loves his high school sweetheart, Kelly Price. He’d do anything for her, including agreeing to a break where they’ll see other people as he heads off to college. Struggling with the break and guilt over dating other people, Emerson meets Eva, a beautiful, funny, easygoing, and nosey junior.
Eva Harvey chose this particular college with the hopes of fulfilling her own fairytale and falling in love at the same college where her parents met. She does her best to go with the flow and simply see what happens, but Emerson simultaneously causes her to fall in love while making her second guess everything along the way.
There’s some things you know without a doubt. However, Eva causes Emerson to doubt everything he believes about his future while he causes her to doubt what’s right in front of her. Can they find a way to erase all doubts or will it tear them apart in the process?

“You fixed breakfast?”
Eva glances over her shoulder before doing a double take. “Uh, yeah. Shouldn't you be getting dressed?”
“Am I making you uncomfortable?” I ask teasingly.
“As uncomfortable as you would be if I walked into the room wearing only a towel.” She picks up her sandwich, takes a bite, and then faces me. “You can't have yours until you put on clothes.”
I laugh. “Okay, okay.”
By the time I change and make it back to the kitchen, Eva is walking past me to take her own shower. I eat my sandwich and then start getting my books together. I'm grabbing a pen from the end table in the living room when I hear, “Emerson.” I lift my head to see Eva leaning against the threshold of the hallway. A white towel is wrapped around her body and her hair. I swallow hard at the sight of her. Ample cleavage looks strained from underneath the towel, one of her legs is showing from the hip down thanks to her not having the towel completely wrapped around her, and her damp skin shines.
“Just wanted to prove a point,” she says before turning and walking to my bedroom.
“Feel free to prove points more often,” I call after her, causing her to laugh.

And here is little information on the cover and the book.

Title: Soulless
Series: Once Wicked Series, #1
Author: Sarah J. Pepper
Genre: New Adult, Romance, Fantasy
Expected release date: February 23rd 2016
Goodreads link: Click Here!
Cover Designed by the Author
Summary(provided by the author):
@theunconventionaldamsels who rock piercings, refuse to conform to society’s rules, and aren’t obsessed with labels, check out the “Once Wicked” series. Happily Ever After doesn't define the misunderstood evil villains we love to hate. Their story is so much deeper than their fairy princess counterparts, yet were never told. That's a damn shame. They aren't always as wicked as they are made out to be. Well, not all of them. So until the clock  strikes midnight and the (other) glass shoe drops, enjoy these not-so-Prince-Charming book boyfriends in this modern series, #OnceWicked.

“Soulless” (#1 of the Once Wicked Series)
We don't get to pick who we fall head-over-heels for. Sometimes they are the Mr. Right’s. Sometimes they are the White Knight’s. But sometimes they are the vilest of men. I just happen to fall in love with a monster. In doing so, I became one myself. But I never regretted the night I met Rumpelstiltskin.

“Priceless” (#.5 of the Once Wicked Series)
The first time Piper and I would meet wouldn't be coincidental, but rather a series of debts that'd unite us. I am a high-roller. However, it was her mother who gambled away Piper's freedom for her own screw-up Happily Ever After. Nevertheless, Piper is my prize. And when the time is right, I will collect my winnings.
***“Priceless” can be found in “Fairy Tale Confessions,” a collection of fairy tales by fourteen bestselling authors.***

Meet the Author:

Sarah J. Pepper specializes in dark, paranormal romance - think "happy ever after" but with a twisted, dark chocolate center. Real-life romance isn't only filled with hugs, kisses, bunnies, and rainbows. True-love can be more thoroughly described in times of darkness and tribulation. It's in those harsh moments where you see what a person is truly capable of - both the good and bad. Sometimes prince-charming isn't always on time, and the glass slipper is a little snug. However, it doesn't mean Charming is not Mr. Right, and who says every shoe is the perfect fit?

“Mama…” I didn’t know what to say. This was not how I figured the day would turn out. It was good, yes, but…I was scared, too.

“Don’t worry about it, Lani. I know you, and you are running all the reasons to wait through your mind. You’ll eventually talk yourself out of it. Honestly, I’ve been waiting for this day to come. I just didn’t see it taking so long.”
“No buts about it, sweet girl. You’ve been by my side for the last ten years, when you shouldn’t have been. I understand that, and I know why you’ve done it, probably more so than you do. You’ve been hiding, and part of this is my fault for letting it continue to happen. I should have forced you out sooner.”
I lifted a brow at her, knowing exactly what she meant, but I played it off. “That’s ridiculous. I haven’t been hiding – I’ve been helping you.” I shrugged my shoulders nonchalantly. “And there’s no forcing me to do anything. This has been my choice from the get-go.”

She laughed out loud. “Oh, really?”
“Yes, really.”
“So it has nothing to do with Brock breaking your heart when he left?”
Immense pain seared my chest…my heart…stealing my breath.
Ten years without him, ten years without hearing his voice, and the heartbreak still felt as fresh as it did the day he left. I missed him that much.
My breathing accelerated as I fought off the agony. “Don’t,” I warned her.
“My point exactly, sweet girl. He broke your heart, and you’ve been hiding behind the restaurant and me. You haven’t lived your life.” Her eyes were kind but remorseful. “A year, I could understand – I get it. But you’ve spent too much time doing things for me, living for others, you’ve closed yourself off. If you recall, I’ve tried to talk to you about this, but you shut me down every time. I knew that you’d have to figure this one out on your own or you’d never move on.”
“I don’t want to talk about Brock, Mama,” I cautioned her, deflecting.
I didn’t let my mind go there. Ever. He hurt me too badly.

I love writing romance and in particular, I love sports romance.  I’ve played competitive sports all through school.  So I was always hanging out on the field for practices or games.  Lots of my girl and guy friends were also jocks.  These sports romance stories were inspired by my friends.
I still love to follow collegiate and pro-sports.  I enjoy watching soccer and cheering on my favorite football teams.
I like to write romance centered on the field with characters that have lots of spirit and adventure.  I hope you enjoy the inside look into the lives of my players and their friends.

“This doesn’t sound like football-guy music,” I said, watching him.  He’d taken a bowl of something out of the refrigerator and was whisking it furiously.
“Don’t tell Saint,” he snorted.  He dipped a finger into whatever it was he was whisking and tasted it, smacking his lips approvingly.  “He’d have a heart attack if he knew that I’d even heard about Enya.”
I frowned.  “Why? Does he feel the same way about Mika?”
“No, but only because we assured him that Mika was a girl.”
It was kind of funny, because now that I thought about it, he really was a very feminine singer.  Still, it was a little disappointing to hear that the football coach espoused such antiquated values.  “What a dinosaur.”
He shrugged, then slid something wrapped in foil inside the oven.  “Eh, he’s a good coach. But yeah, doing the alpha-top-dog-male-macho thing all the time gets exhausting.”
“So why do you do it?”
“Because the only way to get drafted by the NFL is to stay on the team, and the only way to stay on the team is to stay on his good side.”
I shook my head. I couldn’t imagine being so dedicated to one career path as to be willing to endure that amount of shit.  Then he told me how he’d grown up, raised by a single mom.  “My NFL career will be the first time I’ll be able to give her what she deserves,” he said quietly.  “You have no idea how much I want that.”
The things that you usually shared on date number, say, ten—we ended up talking about those all night long, while he cooked—or rather, reheated stuff and made salad dressing. Dinner, which was eaten on “company china” as he called it, was roast beef and gravy, with creamy mashed potatoes and a salad.  It was strange, how intimate the conversation got, how much of our souls we laid bare to the other that evening, while we picked over the salad and drank down the wine. It wasn’t drunkenness that prompted us to loosen our tongues.  In retrospect, I think it was relief that we’d found someone who just “got” us.
“Well,” he said, as he cleared the table.  “My brother said we could use his Netflix, so what do you say to finding a movie while I make dessert?”  For desert he warmed up a gooey chocolate cake—”Not brownies,” he said, when I asked if that was what they were—and topped with a scoop of ice cream and a few slices of fresh strawberries.  We ate it on the floor, snuggled up together on the giant sheepskin watching Skyfall—it was my first time seeing it, and I almost lost it when the Bond girl died.  “She’s not supposed to die!” I cried, for at least a good three minutes after the scene.  “They’re supposed to blow shit up and kick a couple asses and then make out like animals at the end.”
Still, I had to agree with him that Daniel Craig was a great Bond.  And I looked up to tell him so just as he bent his head to kiss me.  There were traces of chocolate on his lips, but that wasn’t the only reason I wouldn’t let him go. He was good—he didn’t try to suck my face off and he wasn’t such a germaphobe that he could barely touch my lips to his, hitting that sweet medium  with the perfect amount of give-and-take that gave truth to the cliche “tongue tango”. He could tell when to stop, and when to let go.  Against all odds I felt myself falling under a sort of hypnotic trance—kiss, let go, kiss, let go—and it was surprising how natural it felt when he gently rolled me over onto my back and his hand was already under my sweater, toying with the clasp of my bra.
“Do you want me to go on?” he asked.
“Yes,” I whispered, feeling a shiver of excitement running up my spine.

I ease out of the room quietly and take the baby downstairs. The house is big and the kitchen is far, but I can hear the bustle of kids and dogs before I even make it downstairs. When I walk in, it’s a madhouse.
I love this fucking madhouse. My girls are all laughing and talking a mile a minute. Belle is stuffing her face with pancakes, Jasmine and Ariel are clinking their OJ glasses together like they are having a secret toast, and Rory is…
I squint my eyes at Rory. She’s talking to Five, but that’s not what makes me squint my eyes. She’s wearing a Shrike Trikes t-shirt and sweat pants, but it’s the way… it’s the shape of her…
“Daddy,” Rory squeals, getting up from her stool at the breakfast bar and coming towards me. “Five wants to know—”
“Absolutely not.”
She stops short. “What?” Her smile falters.
Cindy smacks her little fist into my eyeball, and I have to take a deep breath. “I’m sorry, what were you going to ask?” I eye Five suspiciously. I know he’s always liked her, but he’s so weird. Like Ford, just weird. Always wearing those suits. Always on that computer. And he’s been in and out of different college programs since he was ten or eleven. He’s gone a lot and that’s the way I like it.
But today he looks… different. Different in the same way that Rory looks different in her innocent nightclothes. He almost looks normal in his flannel pajama pants and Shrike t-shirt. Add in the fact that his normally perfectly coiffed hair is messed up a little like he just rolled out of bed, and I get flushed with anger.
In fact, Rory’s long blonde hair is all messed up too. Flowing over her shoulders like an unruly waterfall. And Five is looking at her the way I look at the Bomb.
“But Daddy,” Rory pleads. “I need to go shopping.”
“Shopping?” I ask, ratcheting down my suspicions and getting a hold of my paranoia as the seconds tick off.
“Yeah, we don’t want to ski today. We want to go shopping in the Village.”
Shopping. I mull it over in my head. Lots of people there. Crowds of people, actually. Not private, in other words. “Maybe,” I say. “But I’m pretty sure Ford is counting on you to help him, Five.”
“Mr. Shrike,” Five starts. “I’ve already cleared it with my father. Kate’s helping him today. Right, Kate?” He looks over at his sister and there’s… there’s some kind of secret look going on between the two of them.
“Yup,” Kate says. She is as normal as Five is strange. And she’s been Ford’s little sidekick since day one. But she’s smarter than people give her credit for. I think she secretly likes it that way. Like being underestimated is the best gift she ever got out of being Ford’s adopted daughter. “Ford and I are skiing a double black once the kids are finished.”
“Well,” I say, eyeing my brood. Rory needs a chaperone. Belle, Jas and Ariel won’t go shopping. They love Ford too much to skip out on a whole day with him on the slopes. And there’s no chance in hell that Rook and Ronin will have time to shop today. Sparrow has ballet rehearsal before The Nutcracker tonight. “Oliver,” I say, smiling. “Ollie, my boy. You don’t want to ski today, do you? You hate skiing.” He does too, he can’t ski worth a shit. “Will you go with Rory and finds something extra-special pretty for Mommy today? She’s tired and needs a pick-me-up present before Santa comes.”
“Yay!” Oliver says. “Yes, yes, yes! I want to go shopping with Five. He’s the best, Daddy.”
I roll my eyes. “OK, good. You can go, Princess, but…” I look at Five. “But…”
“But what, Daddy?” Rory asks.
But what am I going to say to Five? You touch my girl, I’ll break your fingers? I’ll grab that shotgun I’m hiding under my bed and—“Just be home in time for dinner. Your mom is making something special tonight.”

Synopsis(provided by the author):
Erika I was told that dreams were our heart’s desires. My nightmares, however, became my obsession.
His name is Michael Crist.
My boyfriend’s older brother is like that scary movie that you peek through your hand to watch. He is handsome, strong, and completely terrifying. The star of his college’s basketball team and now gone pro, he’s more concerned with the dirt on his shoe than me.
But I noticed him.
I saw him. I heard him. The things that he did, and the deeds that he hid…For years, I bit my nails, unable to look away.
Now, I’ve graduated high school and moved on to college, but I haven’t stopped watching Michael. He’s bad, and the dirt I’ve seen isn’t content to stay in my head anymore.
Because he’s finally noticed me.

Her name is Erika Fane, but everyone calls her Rika.
My brother’s girlfriend grew up hanging around my house and is always at our dinner table. She looks down when I enter a room and stills when I am close. I can always feel the fear rolling off of her, and while I haven’t had her body, I know that I have her mind. That’s all I really want anyway.
Until my brother leaves for the military, and I find Rika alone at college.
In my city.
The opportunity is too good to be true as well as the timing. Because you see, three years ago she put a few of my high school friends in prison, and now they’re out.
We’ve waited. We’ve been patient. And now every last one of her nightmares will come true.

I enjoyed the fright of not knowing what was coming and from where.
“When we used to wear the masks,” Michael said, dropping his voice to a near whisper, “you liked it, didn’t you? It scared you, but it turned you on.”
I raised my hesitant eyes and tried not to let out a laugh. What was I supposed to say? That the fact that they’d looked like monsters got me hot?
I shook my head clear and stood up, saying in a quiet voice. “I’m going to bed.”
I grabbed my phone and took a step, but Michael’s voice stopped me.
“Come here,” he said softly.
I turned my head, narrowing my eyes. Come here?
He sat up, resting his forearms on his knees and waiting, while I shifted on my feet.
He was always playing games. I didn’t trust him.
But the temptation to engage was too great. He was right. I was getting good at it, and I kind of liked it, too.
I took slow steps, holding up my chin to steel myself.
When I reached him, he placed a hand on my hip and pulled me in between his legs. I gasped as he fell back against the sofa again, pulling me in with him. I shot my hands out, planting them on both sides of his head on the back of the couch, keeping myself upright as I leaned into him.
“Say it,” he breathed out, holding my hips with both hands now. “It turned you on.”
I closed my mouth and shook my head, looking down at him with a challenge.
“I know it did,” he maintained, a fire in his eyes. “Did you think I couldn’t see how tense your body would get or how your nipples got hard through your shirt when you saw me wearing it? You’re a little twisted. Admit it.”
I folded my lips between my teeth, turning my head away.
But then he tipped his chin up and caught my nipple between his teeth through my tank top, and I closed my eyes, letting out a small cry.
Oh, God!
The heat of his mouth swooped into my stomach as he released my nipple and then snatched it up again, dragging it out between his teeth.
“I’ve got the mask upstairs,” he taunted, kissing and nibbling on me through my shirt. “I can get it if you want me to.”
No. No, I wasn’t like that.
I pushed away from him, but he held me firm.
“Michael, let me go.”
But then I felt my phone vibrate in my hand, and I quickly glanced at the screen, seeing no name with the number. Reading the number, though, I noticed that it was his mother’s. That’s strange. I thought I had her number saved in my Contacts.
But I let it go, remembering that my mom was with her. I needed to take this call.
Planting my fists on Michael’s chest, I shoved him away. “Get off me. Your mom’s calling.”
All he did was laugh, though, and my face fell.
He grabbed my arm and threw me down onto my stomach and came down on my back, pinning me to the couch.
I breathed hard and fast, feeling his cock press against my ass as he snatched my phone out of my hand.
I stared wide-eyed as he placed it a few inches in front of me, his finger hovering over the green Answer button.
“Michael, no,” I rushed out, panic making my lungs ache.
But he swiped the screen anyway. The ringing stopped, and I heard silence as she waited for me to say something.
“Say hi,” he whispered in my ear.

Where do I even begin?
Corrupt is now probably one of my most favorite books for this year! I was not sure what to expect going it and at the beginning I had so many questions but as the story progressed everything started to fit together and it was amazing. It was perfect really!
I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that had me experience such range of emotions. It’s a darker story than anything I’ve read before but it was so thrilling and exciting. It was definitely an emotional rollercoaster.
The characters were also very interesting and complex. And because this isn’t just the story about a boy and a girl, there were more characters that the story focused on.
On one side we have Erika ‘Rika’ Fane. A quiet girl from a rich family that lives in a rich community around rich and entitled people. She was a golden girl. Everyone loved her because she is genuinely good but deep inside she has secret desires that no one can see. Except him.
Michael Crist. One of Thunder Bay’s bad boy, and one of the four Horseman that everyone loves to watch. A bad boy though and though. Dark and dangerous. Quiet and calculating. Controlling! He is simply free. He doesn’t care about anyone’s judgment or opinion and he does what he wants when he wants it. Who’s going to stop him?
Rika has had a crush on him since forever but he wouldn’t so much as look at her. In her mind she was invisible for him. Until one night she wasn’t. The night that changes everything.
Then there are Kai, Will and Damon. The other three Horseman. Each and every one of them more complex than others. You can’t really tell which side of them you are going to get at any given moment.
Kai seemed like the good one, the one that would go too far, until he wasn’t that person anymore.
Will is still a mystery to me. I never could figure him out.
And Damon… oh there is so much to say about that one. So dark. I had hoped things turned out differently with him and I was not happy with how his storyline progressed but I have to trust Penelope Douglas that she knows what she was doing while writing the story.  I really like his character!
Okay so I know I’m pretty much giving you what the summary and some of the teasers have already said but I don’t want to give you any more because it will ruin the experience.
This book is a game of fate and trust. The emotional ups and downs were overwhelming but they just made the story that much better. It was easy to put yourself in Rika’s shoes and feel what she felt. I would get excited and then I would feel like I had plunged into ice water. Reading this book was a thrilling experience and I LOVED every second of it.
You never knew where the story would take you. I was so sure I had it all figured out but then so many things happened. It is most definitely not your usual love story but it’s one of the hottest most emotionally thrilling books I’ve ever read.
I don’t have the right words to express myself right now and that is frustrating so the only thing I can say is that you NEED to read this book. It is a must! The challenges these characters had to face, the road to self-discovery and every little passionate moment in between had me laughing, panting and/or crying and I was pretty much glued to the screen of my phone the entire day. I simply could NOT stop reading it until it was all finished.
I’m sad that it’s over though. I would definitely enjoy some more of these characters!

Series: The Unchecked Series #3
Author: Sybil Bartel
Genre: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance
Publication date: December 8th 2015

Purchase links: Amazon,
Synopsis(provided by the author):
I stood by my brothers in the Marines and fought for my country. I gave my blood, sweat and flesh so that others could have a taste of freedom.
But my wife wasn’t free.
She’d been hunted, stalked, and forced to keep a secret no one should have to live with. I’d made her a promise. Her freedom, my rules, no questions asked. I thought I’d kept my promise but I made a mistake—a rookie mistake.
Now I was going to finish what I started. I was done playing games with the killer who’d murdered my wife’s parents and tracked her for sport. If he thought he was safe in a jail cell, he was wrong. No one puts out a hit on my wife and survives.
This ends now. I protect what’s mine…at whatever cost.
IMPOSSIBLE END is the conclusion to the Unchecked Series. This novella is from Blaze’s point of view and is not a stand alone. To get the full story, please read the first two books in the series, IMPOSSIBLE PROMISE and IMPOSSIBLE CHOICE.

Meet the Author

Sybil Bartel grew up in Northern California with her head in a book and her feet in the sand. She dreamt of becoming a painter but the heady scent of libraries with their shelves full of books drew her into the world of storytelling. She loves the New Adult genre, but any story about a love so desperately wrong and impossibly beautiful makes her swoon.
Sybil now resides in Southern Florida and while she doesn’t get to read as much as she likes, she still buries her toes in the sand. If she isn’t writing or fighting to contain the banana plantation in her backyard, you can find her spending time with her handsomely tattooed husband, her brilliantly practical son and a mischievous miniature boxer…
But Seriously?
Here are ten things you probably really want to know about Sybil.
She grew up a faculty brat. She can swear like a sailor. She loves men in uniform. She hates being told what to do. She can do your taxes (but don’t ask). The Bird Market in Hong Kong freaks her out. Her favorite word is desperate…or dirty, or both—she can’t decide. She has a thing for muscle cars. But never reply on her for driving directions, ever. And she has a new book boyfriend every week—don’t tell her husband.

I put my mouth against her throat and whispered, “Do you know what you feel like?”
“No,” she rasped.
“Like everything I’ve ever wanted.”
Her body stilled, her eyes opened and I released my tight grip in her hair as she brought her head up.
“Blaze,” she breathed, staring into my soul.
“Everything,” I repeated.
Her hand landed on my heart. “I love you.”
“I know.” Every part of her body changed when she looked at me. Her shoulders lifted, her back went straight, her eyes turned to liquid heat and her pulse raced. I knew how she felt about me.
She pushed her fingers into my hair. “I’ll still always tell you.”
“I know.” She needed the words. I didn’t. I didn’t throw out words when I had actions.
Her forehead creased and her hands stilled. “What if I never told you again?”
“It would change nothing.”
She turned her head and dropped her arms.
I grabbed her chin and brought her back to me. I’d been waiting for this to come up. I never told her I loved her in response to her telling me. It cheapened it. “But I would miss it,” I said honestly.
“Would you?” It wasn’t a question. It was an accusation.
“I miss it.”
“How many other women have I come inside?” I asked calmly.
The color drained from her face.
“How many?” I demanded.
She swallowed.
“You know this,” I reminded her. “Answer me.”
“None,” she whispered.
I dropped my Marine face. “You don’t need the words,” I slowly annunciated, letting her see the man I was, not the warrior I’d been trained to be.
Her eyes welled with unshed tears.
Then I gave her the fierce truth that meant more to me than any three words. “I would die for you.”

Purchase links: Amazon -> Free on December 5th and 6th
Synopsis(provided by the author):
My name is Marcus Hunter. I own Hunter Investments, a billion dollar hedge fund.
I admit it, I’m a total womanizer.  A player, a serial-seducer, call me what you like.
I enjoy a variety of women and I don’t do love.
I work hard, and I play even harder.
I rarely dip into the office pool.  That was until I became intrigued with Sophie Shawn. She is a high-flying money manager like myself and we’ve had to work closely together.
Sophie’s my equal, she’s smart, sharp-witted and of course she has to be sexy-as-hell.
The way she shakes her little ass in her tight, short skirts has me wanting to bury myself deep inside her.
We’re enjoying a drink together after work.
She doesn’t know it yet, but I’m going to bed her tonight. I want to hear her beneath me begging for more. When I’m done with her she won’t be able to utter a single coherent word.
Little did I know, I would be the one in for a surprise from Miss Sophie Shawn.

Meet the Author

My passions lie in reading and writing sexy contemporary romance novels.  I love writing in the genre I love to read. Personal experiences are often the inspiration for my sexy romances, so you will find a little bit of me in every story I pen. I will leave you to guess which parts are true and which parts are fiction!

Listening to my favorite music while writing inspires me to create my characters and makes their love stories come alive. I believe in writing about heroines who are strong, smart, sassy, sexy and have a sense of humor.

I cherish my family and am a hopeless romantic. I believe in finding your happily-ever-after and that each day is for living, loving and laughing.

We’re sitting at the bar in the restaurant downstairs from the offices of Hunter Investments. Sophie and I have put in long hours this week and we need to unwind. I can think of the perfect way to unwind and she’s sitting right next to me looking oh-so-damn sexy. Her dress slits open in the front and I think I catch a glimpse of, what is that, a garter and stockings?
I’m in trouble; she catches me looking.
“Like what you see, Marcus?” she says, as the words roll off those luscious red lips of hers.
“I do. I do indeed,” I say, as my eyes cast down to her breasts straining against the fabric of her low cut dress.
She lets out a soft laugh as she takes a sip of her wine.
“Have dinner with me,” I tell her.
“Alright,” she accepts my invitation.
“What are you in the mood for?” I ask.
“You,” she replies, and I’m not sure I heard her right.
“Excuse me?” I ask.
“You heard me,” she says, staring at me seductively.
Sophie is getting me so hot; I have to loosen my tie.
“Let’s eat first,” I say with a wicked smile.
“Suit yourself. You choose the place,” Sophie says.
“Let’s eat here,” I suggest.
“Sounds good,” she says, leaning into me as she slides off her bar stool and spreads her legs to make sure I can see up her skirt. Her silky dress pulls tightly across her breasts. Maybe we should skip dinner…
Once we close the door to her luxurious apartment and she puts her things down, she starts walking into her bedroom while she’s unbuttoning the front of her dress and sliding off its belt.
My feet are rooted in place as she leaves me standing in the entryway of her lavishly decorated apartment and I’m not sure what to make of this.
“Get in here,” she calls out to me from her bedroom.
Just like that, no foreplay? Damn, she’s throwing me off my game big time; she almost makes me nervous.
I walk slowly towards her room and she’s sprawled out sexily on her king size bed in the most alluring black lace lingerie. My heart stops. All she is wearing now is a black lace bra that she fills out nicely, then my eyes travel down to her shapely waistline where I see her black lace garter belt that looks amazing on her curves. Next, I see her black lace panties and sheer black stockings covering her long, lean legs, down to the tips of her toes.
She’s posed like a pin-up, and she looks so sexy. I immediately rise to the occasion.
“Strip,” she commands as she rolls over to turn on her iPod player.
I do as I’m told; this girl is stealing all of my lines.
I strip down to my tight black briefs and climb on top of her, then my lips crash down onto those ruby red lips of hers that I can’t wait to have wrapped around me.

Meet the Author

USA Today bestselling author Brooke Harris is a self diagnosed romance addict. Realising at the age of seven that being a real person and not a cartoon character may prove a hindrance when applying for a role as a Disney Princess, she decided to create her own stories. As a grown up Brooke tried swapping the heels and tiaras in her stories for sex and revenge and published her first book, Rules of Harte in 2014. The Harte Series went on to become a #1 international bestseller.

Brooke lives in Kildare, Ireland with her young family. She daydreams about a climate where it doesn’t rain every day, but secretly she loves the green fields and heritage of Ireland.

Brooke also writes Psych-thriller under the pseudonym Janelle Harris.

I follow him to the front door. We both stand in the hall for longer than necessary. I don’t offer to let him out, even though I know I should. But I want him to kiss me again. I want so much more than I know I can have.
He reaches for the doorknob. He’s going to let himself out. God, I don’t want him to go. Not like this.
‘I’m sorry,’ I say, finally breaking the silence.
‘For what?’
‘I shouldn’t have kissed you.’
‘And I shouldn’t have kissed you back.’
He’s smiling. And for the first time since we met, the cloud of sadness that usually rests in the corner of his eyes is absent.
‘Are we okay, then?’ I stutter.
‘You mean am I going to tell anyone about this?’
‘Well, yeah?’
‘No, Aoife. No, I’m not. I’m as much to blame as you are. Probably more so because I should know better.’
‘I’m not a child, Lucas. I do understand the word no.’
He looks at me as if he wants to rip my clothes off. I kind of wish he would. I take a deep breath.
‘If you kissed me again, I wouldn’t say no this time either,’ I say.
My teeth clamp against my bottom lip. I can’t believe I said that out loud. But all I can think about is how good his lips felt on mine and how much I want to feel them again. Kiss me, Lucas. Kiss me.
As if he reads my mind, Lucas’ hands grip my waist. One hand just above each hip, cementing me to the spot. His eyes focus on mine with such intensity, it burns.
‘You should say no, Aoife. You should run a mile from me.’
‘Why? Because you loved someone and losing them has fucked with your head?’
His eyes narrow, and his grip on my waist tightens almost to the point of hurting. I know it’s a flash of temper. This man is the nearest thing to a stranger to me. He could lose it completely and really hurt me, but I know he won’t. I trust him as I’ve never really trusted anyone before.
‘No. Because you don’t know me. You don’t know what I’m capable of.’
‘Then show me.’
‘Be careful what you wish for.’
‘I’ve already seen what you’re capable of. I’ve seen how much you care about people, but you try to hide that under a layer of fancy talk and cocky attitude.’
He forces me backwards, his hands still on my waist. I make a weird noise that I haven’t heard before as my back collides with the wall behind me, slapping the air out of my chest.
‘Don’t go there, Doctor Brennan. You’re not a psychology student.’
‘No. I’m just the girl you kissed. The girl who is still standing in front of you ten minutes later and waiting for you to do it again.’
