Review: City of Fallen Angels (the Mortal Instruments #4) by Cassandra Clare

City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4)City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare
Goodreads summary:
The Mortal War is over, and Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She's training to become a Shadowhunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last. And—most important of all—Clary can finally call Jace her boyfriend.

But nothing comes without a price.

Someone is murdering the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine’s Circle, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second bloody war. Clary’s best friend, Simon, can’t help her. His mother just found out he’s a vampire and now he’s homeless. Everywhere he turns, someone wants him on their side—along with the power of the curse wrecking his life. And they’re willing to do anything to get what they want. At the same time he’s dating two beautiful, dangerous girls—neither of whom knows about the other.

When Jace begins to pull away from Clary without explaining why, she is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: She herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.

Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. The stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels

My thoughts:

I've been stalling to write the review because I'm not sure what to say. The book was good. It was entertaining and interesting and I certainly had a good time reading it but it wasn't like the previous.

Here we had a lot more Simon, which was good but the POV were constantly changing and there were little cliff hangers. I love those but when it's in the middle of the book and you have been expecting something big to happen and the author has put yet another stop to the storyline you're following. I was irritated at some point but not enough to put the book down...

It still was very interesting and I had a hard time putting it down until I finished it.

The author has inserted a new character that I personally think is going to play a major part in future events... That's Kyle, or Jordan as it turned out later on...He's this guardian thingy... he's a werewolf but he's devoted his life to protect and help vampire or werewolves who had just been turned.. or something like that.. But he's very important for someone in the book and he is not entirely new since we've heard of him before.

I'm not going to reveal more about him, you'll have to figure it out on your own but it's a good story there...

And then there were Clare and Jace. I ... I'm at loss of words to describe how screwed up their life is!... And of course it get's worse. Those two have absolutely no luck even though they came out on the other end of so many deadly situations.

Instead of getting out of trouble, though, they always find themselves surrounded by more.

With an ending like this book had... I don't know what to expect for the next book. I don't know how many awful things those two could overcome. I seriously have a feeling that Jace will not make it out of this okay(I has considering using the word alive but I hardly think the author will kill him...). It is just too much. One hard blow after another..

That's partly why I give it 4 stars.. It was a bit too much at the end... But it was good. It was a great book! I recommend it to every fan of the previous books!
