Waiting on Wednesday (12)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

  Black City by Elizabeth Richards
Expected publication: November 13th 2012
G.P. Putnam's Sons BYR

Synopsis:
A dark and tender post-apocalyptic love story set in the aftermath of a bloody war.

In a city where humans and Darklings are now separated by a high wall and tensions between the two races still simmer after a terrible war, sixteen-year-olds Ash Fisher, a half-blood Darkling, and Natalie Buchanan, a human and the daughter of the Emissary, meet and do the unthinkable—they fall in love. Bonded by a mysterious connection that causes Ash’s long-dormant heart to beat, Ash and Natalie first deny and then struggle to fight their forbidden feelings for each other, knowing if they’re caught, they’ll be executed—but their feelings are too strong.

When Ash and Natalie then find themselves at the center of a deadly conspiracy that threatens to pull the humans and Darklings back into war, they must make hard choices that could result in both their deaths.

I want this book because you can read how interesting it sounds. I'm really looking forward to finding out what the book is really about so I can't wait for it to come out.

(Confessions, #1)
 Expected publication: August 28th 2012
Harlequin

Synopsis:
Rose Zarelli, self-proclaimed word geek and angry girl, has some CONFESSIONS to make... #1: I'm livid all the time. Why? My dad died. My mom barely talks. My brother abandoned us. I think I'm allowed to be irate, don't you?

#2: I make people furious regularly. Want an example? I kissed Jamie Forta, a badass guy who "might" be dating a cheerleader. She is now enraged and out for blood. Mine.

#3: High school might as well be Mars. My best friend has been replaced by an alien, and I see red all the time. (Mars is red and "seeing red" means being angry-get it?)

Here are some other vocab words that describe my life: Inadequate. Insufferable. Intolerable.

(Don't know what they mean? Look them up yourself.) (Sorry. That was rude.)

Oh look at this summary. How could I not want it. It sounds hilarious and sarcastic and pretty much exactly like something I will love. I just saw that my request for the book on NetGalley has been accepted so I'll be reading this one in a few days! Oh I definitely can't wait!

Leave me a comment with your WOW and I promise to visit and comment!
Until the next time,

  1. Black City sounds really good, the cover is gorgeous too. i hope it's an original take on the whole undead/alive love drama because that formula is getting a bit old. Looking forward to it though!

  14. I'm all over "Black City." The darklings make me think of "The Elfstones of Shannara" by Terry Brooks. But I haven't read the book in so long I'm not sure if that's a fair comparison. I guess the description just made me feel nostalgic. Great picks!

  17. Hi Martina :)

I'm almost positive I saw Angry Girl on NG and Black City on Edelweiss, you should request them both!:) Happy Hump Day! Xoxo Thank you for visiting my WoW!!;) You will love J.R. Ward and her BDB hot vampire warriors if you haven't read them, I can't remember if you have?

    1. I have absolutely no idea what Edelweiss is but I do know my BDB warriors. I've had a lot of sleepless nights spent reading those books! I just haven't read the ones about the Fallen Angels (or whatever the other series was about). Thanks for stopping by!

    2. http://edelweissabovethetreeline.com

Go there and you can click "Review Copies" to find ARCs available to request......but to find Black City, you'll see a search engine on the page and type in "Black City" you'll see a blue button that says "Request digital copy" click that and then you'll add your stats info and it will save for future use. This website is a bit trickier to use than NG but it's really good once you learn how to use. Let me know if you need more help from me to walk you through in explaining it. :-) I haven't read The Fallen Angel series LOL. I just needed a WOW post, LOL, but I'm going to read them since I'm obsessed with BDB series. :)

    3. Thank you! I requested a digital copy today and we'll see what happens. I asked you something in a personal message on Twitter. It's a stupid question but I don't know the answer :D
The Fallen Angel series is on my to-read list too and I'd love to read the books but I have so much on my pile right now that I don't know when I'll be able to do that.
