YA Review: Heartless (Pretty Little Liars, #7) by Sara Shepard

This book is suitable for Young Adult readers!!!
Read for TBR Challenge!
Goodread summary:
In picturesque Rosewood, Pennsylvania, neighbors gossip over picket fences, and gleaming SUVs sit in every crushed-granite driveway. But recently, friendly smiles have been replaced with suspicious glares and accusatory whispers--and it's all because Hanna, Aria, Emily, and Spencer just can't keep their mouths shut. . . .

First they claimed they found a dead body in the woods behind Spencer's house, only to have it vanish without a trace. Then when the same woods went up in flames, they swore they saw someone who's "supposed" to be dead rise from the ashes. And even after all that, the pretty little liars are still playing with fire.

Hanna's trading in her Dior trench for a straitjacket. Aria's trying to contact the dead. Emily's dumped her boyfriend and is skipping town . . . again. And Spencer thinks someone in her family has gotten away with murder.

The friends insist they're telling the truth about what they saw, but all of Rosewood thinks they're simply out for attention--and nobody likes a girl who cries wolf. So when the big bad killer comes after the girls, will anyone believe them . . . or will they be the next to disappear?

There are spoilers!!!

Every single time I start a PLL book I feel like I won't finish it because it's kind of boring but then something happens and everything changes and I can't wait to read the the next chapter about either one of the girls.
And of course something pretty interesting happened at the end of every chapter...

Aria, Hanna, Spencer and Emily had to face different problems like always. A was playing each and every one of them, which just confirms my theory that there's more than one A because the schemes were way too detailed to be done by one person....
And that's what kept me on the edge... what was the next text message going to say, who is going to get burned in the process?

As they were following A's master plan of self-destruction, the girls' lives continued.
Aria has a new boyfriend.. or something like that, in the face of Noel Kahn. What was kind of weird because he's her brother's best friend and I totally didn't see his life story coming up. But now she kind of has a shoulder to cry on and she'll be doing a lot of crying... Also there was this moment with Jason and she ended up arrested for conspiring with a murderer or something like that but Jason said something interesting about the clinic he was in, that Aria doesn't understand and neither did I but hopefully we'll get the chance to learn the truth later.
Hanna was sent to a clinic to deal with some of her issues. A made sure Hanna's dad knew of how unstable she gets and he sent her to this clinic which was just the perfect place for Hanna to freak out because even there her life and A haunts her. She met this girl that may have known and hurt Ali but we are not sure about that, there was definitely something shady in that place though. But before she could investigate more the cops took her away too.
Emily visited an Amish community, because A told her that she'll find Ali there(Em still believes Ali's alive after the run in/hallucination after the fire) and she was staying with this family, which ended up being connected to officer Darren Wilden. It turns out that he was an Amish and his girlfriend Lee( she was the lost daughter of the family Em was staying with) disappeared four years ago and Emily was convinced that in Ali's back yard was actually Lee's body and not Ali's but before she could check out the DNA results at the police station( pretty illegally if I might add) a cop got her arrested too.
And now for Spencer, that was the most interesting story. It turns out that Spencer and Ali are sisters because Spencer's dad and Ali's mom had an affair. But they might have more that one love child because he said something about 'children' and not 'child' when Spencer confronted him. All that happened after her parents had opened their arms and hearts for her again after the fire( they were scared of losing her and all was forgiven and forgotten) but then Spencer accused her mom of murdering Ali because she had found out about the affair but her mom didn't even know, not for sure at least and Spencer ended up breaking her family apart. Before she could dwell on things though she was arrested too.

After they were cleared and the charges dropped the girls had to face a shocking new: Ali's murderer was found and he was blamed for another murder... Jenna Cavanaugh is dead!

I really was surprised by that last one but the also with the entire book. I feel like this was the most fast going in the series and I liked that. The girls were always on the move and something new and exciting was going on and now I can't wait for the next book. This is going to be so much fun!

  1. My friends keep going on about PLL and while I don't really understand the hype, I do like a light, gossipy contemporary at times, particularly during exams or between the really heavy reads. Glad you enjoyed this one but I've had a lot of trouble getting into GG/PLL books in the past, so maybe I'll pick up the next one my friend forces on me! :P
