YA Review: Last Breath (The Morganville Vampires, #11) by Rachel Caine

This book is suitable for Young Adult readers!!!
Read for TBR Challenge!
Goodread summary:
Claire Danvers is concerned when three vampires vanish from Morganville without a trace. The last person seen with them is someone new to town—a mysterious individual named Magnus. Claire is convinced creepy Magnus isn’t human... but is he a vampire, or something else entirely?

Claire’s hunt for answers leads her to solving another mystery that’s long been puzzling her: why do vampires live so far out in a sunny desert when they’re sensitive to sunlight? The answer has nothing to do with sunlight, but with water—and an ancient enemy who has finally found a way to invade the vampires’ landlocked community.

Vampires aren’t the top predator on earth. There’s something worse that preys on them... something much worse.

Which means if Claire, and Morganville, want to live, they will have to fight on to the last breath...

It has been a while since I read a Morganville Vampires book but even though it's been almost a year, I was sucked in the story almost immediately.
I started remembering the little things about the story, those you learn after reading 10 books in a roll about the same characters. I remembered why I love the series so much.

“Shut up!" Eve yelled from somewhere upstairs. "Jackass!"
"You know, when people say that, I just hear the word awesome, Shane said.”

From the beginning of the book Clare and her friends got involved in some way in the current crisis and they would end up paying a prize. This time Clare was the only one involved from the quartet( in the beginning anyways) and she ended up paying the prize.. oh and that's when things got interesting.
I never in my wildest dreams imagined that happening.. I guess it had to happen at some point, I mean, she is dealing with deadly creatures but I was surprised by what happened to her. The whole thing was Morganville kind of crazy, though, so it ended not so bad...

Anyway.... In this book as well as every other in the series, Morganville faced a crisis, the problem this time is, that the vampires are scared to death this time and that's never happened before. Even the events involving Bishop, the vamps didn't run but this time they scattered like the devil was on their tail...
In the matter of days the city looked like a ghost town and everyone was starting to panic, and that's when the scary creatures came crawling out of their lair... or, well rained down form the skies...
Not really sure how that works but we did get a little information about these creatures and it wasn't good. And the characters we know so well had to face another disaster at their doorstep, but this time it was much scarier than anything they've faced before.

“There is a certain freedom in giving up all hope. One is no longer bound by the cords of dread or fear; you simply move toward the inevitable without thinking on the consequences.”

My point is that even after 10 books, Rachel Caine managed to write the story just as compelling and interesting as the previous books in the series. It was different and it showed us another side of the vampires( them being scared and all that...) and also it was written amazingly. We got a little inside form other characters other than Claire and that helped the readers understand what was going on...

This book was just good enough to light the old flame and now I can't wait to get my hands of the rest of the books that have been released.
I love Mrs Caine's writing and her books never disappoint and I absolutely loved Last Breath(now I also get the meaning behind the title and it's very clever...)
I can't wait to see what happens next because the end was kind of a cliff-hanger...

 I give it:
