I absolutely loved this book, so much so that I couldn’t wait to get my hands on book two and I loved that one as well.
Now some time has passed since I actually read the book but I still have some vivid memories of a struggling half-Valkyrie, half-vampire girl and a dangerously hot Lykae fighting each other and the rest of the world.

This series is up to book 12 right now so I knew what I was getting myself into even before I started the book but I couldn’t help myself. I knew that if I like this one I’ll simply have to continue reading or I’d go crazy and that’s the case right now.

And since this is originally the series I decided to start from there and from the very beginning I was fascinated with the world that was revealed to me. As per usually, it took me some time to get the facts straightened out in my head but once I did that I was left with incredibly fast-paced, scorching-hot relationship between two immortals who don’t actually like each other but are forced together.

“The Valkyrie did not believe in coincidence, only fate. And sometimes fate didn't even bother being subtle.”

As it is said in the summary, Lachlain MacRieve is leader of the Lykae Clan, but he’s been held captive for a ridiculous amount of time( not sure about the correct number) by the Vampire Horde. As fate should have it, one night, his mate, whom he has awaited for a millennia, strolled on the streets of Paris right on top of him and he sensed her. That fueled his strength to break away from his prison only to find himself tracking a vampire Halfling. Not the best news ever for him since he absolutely hates vampires but oh well

“Nix had told Emma before she'd left for Europe that on this trip she would 'do that which you were born to do.' Apparently, Emma was born to get kidnapped by a deranged Lykae. Her fate sucked.”

Emmaline Troy was just as surprised to find a large and very scary male Lykae on her heels but that was only the beginning of her troubles so she soon realized that she needs to toughen up, and fast.
All that happened in one or two chapters and it wasn’t even the slightly more interesting part of the book.

“Never run from one such as me, female. You will no’ get away - and we like it.”

I just love starting a new series because of all of the unknowns. It’s a black page and it could go anywhere and I love all the little discoveries that follow.
Having to witness Lachlain fighting for control and his struggles with this new world around him allowed us to see glimpses of what his past was like and this is one of my most favorite parts of the book. The amazing detail in which everything was explained had me wanting more and more.

I loved learning about the Lore and it felt kind of natural, that such thing would exist… It’s an incredibly interesting book and that’s not even including the sexual tension between the two characters.

“He stalked up behind her to clench her hips, and she stilled.
In a breathy voice, she asked, "You're going to make love to me again, aren't you?"
In answer,he lifted her onto the counter, tore off her shift, then pressed her naked body back into the blooms.”

I mean, they were so hell bent on fighting each other that they didn’t realize how close they had grown.

As in every story there was a bad guy. A very, very bad guy that had his eyes set on Emma and she and Lachlain would have to find a way to fight the threat looming over them so they could finally figure out what they are feeling for each other.

This firs book opens up to us an incredibly detailed world full of adventure and love and passion and all the things that make life interesting. I loved it and I’m really excited about the rest of the series!

Nol threw first. His spear struck the inner circle of the target, and he straightened, pleased. I could tell by his posture that he thought he’d won. The necklace of shell he always wore tinkled faintly as he turned to me. He yanked off his mask, and his expression was triumphant.
“Your turn.”
I drew my arm back and took aim. I heard the rush of the sea behind me, the cry of gulls above me, and the hiss of my breath over my teeth as I threw. Sea and gulls and breath combined to make music. I shut my eyes and threw.
My spear hit the mark and quivered.
It had struck closer to the center.
The boys roared in approval and swarmed around me. Nol’s jaw tightened, and he shot a glance toward the crowd. I saw his father, the mayor, frowning.
I stepped forward to receive my prize. As I passed Nol, suspicion crossed his face. He snatched off my mask, dislodging my hood in the process.
My long hair tumbled down around my shoulders. Wind fanned my face.
I was exposed.
The crowd gasped. Nol let go of me as if he’d been burned.
“It’s Tagatha’s thrall!” someone shouted.
“You deceptive little brat,” the spear master snarled. “Where’s Kitran?”
I ran.
The spear master grabbed for me. His fingers slipped through my hair, giving one painful tug, then the strands ripped from my scalp and I ran faster. I reached the edge of the cliff, dropped Kit’s spear, and jumped.
The rock was hard beneath my feet as I leaped, and then salty air rushed around me, the gulls’ screams filled my ears, and I was falling, falling, falling through air and wind and sunlight. I brought my arms forward right before I entered the water in a perfect dive.
Bubbles exploded across my vision as I hit the water. Blue closed around me, cold and shocking, shutting out the shouts above. My chest skimmed the sandy bottom of the lagoon. Fish shot away, and seaweed snagged my ankles. The rocks of the bay were dark against the orange light of the dying sun.
I swam a ways from the cliff, holding my breath, kicking my legs to propel myself forward.
When my head broke the surface, I heard the spear master shouting after me. I swam away, my arms making sure, even strokes as his threats echoed across the water after me. I had no fear that he would jump in after me. I was one of the strongest swimmers in the village. He couldn’t catch me, and he wouldn’t try.
But I couldn’t swim forever.

NA Review: Real (Real #1) by Katy Evans

This book is suitable for New Adult readers!!!
Goodread summary:
A fallen boxer.
A woman with a broken dream.
A competition…

He even makes me forget my name. One night was all it took, and I forgot everything and anything except the sexy fighter in the ring who sets my mind ablaze and my body on fire with wanting…

Remington Tate is the strongest, most confusing man I’ve ever met in my life.

He’s the star of the dangerous underground fighting circuit, and I’m drawn to him as I’ve never been drawn to anything in my life. I forget who I am, what I want, with just one look from him. When he’s near, I need to remind myself that I am strong–but he is stronger. And now it’s my job to keep his body working like a perfect machine, his taut muscles primed and ready to break the bones of his next opponents . . .

But the one he’s most threatening to, now, is me.

I want him. I want him without fear. Without reservations.

If only I knew for sure what it is that he wants from me?

And you should check out the author on Goodreads and her website.

A while ago I could swear this book was everywhere because everywhere I turned, there was a review or a post about the cover or an author interview or something like that and I felt like the only one that hasn't read the book. So when I won a giveaway recently I picked Real as my prize and started reading it almost immediately. I finished it the next day and it was awesome.

“I'm so fucking in love with you I don't even know what to do with myself anymore.”

The book tells us the story of both Brooke Dumas and Remington 'Remy/Riptide' Tate. Both of them are athletes but they are very, very different.

Brooke lead a privileged life compared to what Remy had to go through but her life was in no way easy. She spent a big proportion of her life training to be professional runner and the first time she made it to the Olympics, her dreams and her leg were shattered. She was a fighter all the way but the road of recovery is never easy and she had a lot of obstacles to overcome. She is an incredibly strong character, somewhat physically but mostly mentally. She has very strong values and she would do anything for her family and friends and that gets tested in the book so she shows us just how far she'd go to help someone she loves.

“He stands watching me, motionless in those drawstring pants, his legs braced in a fighting stance, his eyes bursting with need. His broad shoulders jerk with his breaths, and he curls his fingers into fists at his sides. The deep roughness of his voice scrapes my flesh. "Come here then.”

Now Remy is gorgeous, amazing, well ripped, raw and very, very real. His childhood has been a huge mess and he doesn't trust people easily but he too would go through hell for those he loves. His adult life isn't much better because he has to fight a personal battle with himself every day, and that's besides the fights he has on the ring every so often. After he was kicked out of the Boxing league (not sure that's what it's called so sorry if I got this wrong) he started fighting in underground fights that are so very profitable and let him maul over everyone that gets in his way. He always wins the fights on the stage but off of it he loses control and thing go to hell fast.

These two are opposites in so many ways but they fit perfectly. What I loved about this book is that even though the attraction was there, visible to EVERYONE, the characters didn't jump each other right away. They started working together and Brooke was always reminding herself that Remy is a client, her boss and she really shouldn't think the thoughts that are always in her head when he's around; that she shouldn't feel the way she does, when their skin touches; but at some point all that became pointless. The author explored the animal side of both characters so at one point we realized that both of them had put claims on the other even if they won't admit it to each other.

“You tie me up in knots. I want to play you a thousand different songs so you can get a clue of what... I feel inside me...”

The book is so emotional and raw and it was amazing how easily I fell in love with the story. It's easy to feel for the characters and to get so invested in their happiness. I was hooked from page one and I had a really hard time letting go of the characters. I couldn't make myself stop reading and when I finally went to bed I couldn't stop thinking about what might happen next. I almost started reading again..

So now, after I took some time to stop the crazy thought in my head, I can patiently wait for book two. I'm really excited to see what happens next because even if the end of book one felt complete, I'm really looking forward to reading about the next chapter of Brooke and Remy's life.

I turn my attention to the two tequila shots in front of me, and open my mouth to tell the bartender we won't be having them after all, when a voice says, "I'd recommend you try it with orange slices and cinnamon."

"Excuse me?"

I look sideways and almost fall of my seat. It's him. And up close, it's obvious I gave him far too few points. His striking blue eyes and full lips, curled in a deliciously conceited smile, earn him at least a twenty on that hotness scale.

"Tequila," he points at the two glasses. "It tastes much better with orange and cinnamon than lemon and salt."

"Thanks for the tip." I flash my teeth in the hope they'll detract his attention from my plunging neckline, though I never heard of teeth trumping boobs.

"Have we met?"

"Umm... " I'm one hundred percent sure we haven't or I would remember, but I'm perfectly willing to pretend we have met if it means he'll linger here a little longer.

"We have," he says, recognition lighting up his face. "You were a mentor for the national math contest last year, weren't you?"

Damn. Of the myriad of rules Jess recited to me concerning flirting and dating, one in particular stands out: never show my nerdy side. And there are very few things nerdier than being a mentor in a math contest. Especially since only previous winners are allowed to mentor. In my defense, he was the one who brought it up. I make a mental note not to mention my part-time bookkeeping job. No need to add the boring tag, in addition to the nerd one.

"I'm James, by the way."

"I know. I mean…  I've heard of you," I mumble, suddenly feeling very hot.

He seems completely unsurprised.

"I'm Serena McLewis."

"So, Serena…" he pronounces my name slowly, as if the three syllables would hide some kind of secret he's hoping to uncover. My name in his mouth gives me goose bumps all over my arms. I hope he doesn't notice them. "Let me guess, you're a math major?"

"Nope. Economics and computer science."

"Perfect combination. I had the same." He winks. "I could use someone smart like you in my company."

Just my luck. Other girls get a free drink, or a one-night stand. I get a job offer. Pity that's the last thing I want from him.

"Sorry, not interested."

“Why are you following me?” she stops and asks in a huff, her foot stomping on the polished concrete floors.

“I’m going to class. I’m not following you.”

She looks over at me and scowls. “You have class here in this building at seven AM? Not likely. There’s only one class in here and it’s by invitation only,” she says with an air of superiority as she begins walking again.

I walk again too, then smile at her when she checks to see if I’m still following. “I’ve been invited, don’t worry.”

This makes her stop and whirl around to face me. “You’re in my class?”

“I am,” I say smugly. “I’m a transfer from DU. I major in business, but I take art on the side.”

“Oh.” She flips her long golden tresses over her shoulder. “A hobbyist.”

“Yeah.” I smirk and shrug at the same time. “You could call me that.”

She turns again and resumes the power walk. I catch up, pass her, and then hold the studio door open and wave her through.

“Thank you,” she says under her breath as she passes close enough for me to breathe in her scent. She smells like sugar. Seriously, like a fucking cookie or something. I watch her head across the room to gather her things. The studio is filled with students. At least forty of them. Everyone is setting up, getting ready for life drawing.

“Mr. Shrike,” the middle-aged voice calls out to me from across the room.

I look over at Bombshell and she’s watching me very carefully. I wink and shoot her with my finger, then turn and walk towards the professor with a smile. “Miss Aberdeen, thank you for fitting me in the class. I can see what you mean now, it’s packed full.”

She blushes at me. Yeah, I have that effect on women of all ages, so I shoot her a winning smile and tilt my head a bit. Ronin taught me that move. I might not be on speaking terms with him these days, but that guy knows all the fucking charm tricks. He has the women lined up like groupies.

I’m not a groupie gatherer, but this head-tilt thing works well enough on the professor in front of me. Her look says, I’m an artist. She’s got the earthy clothes that hang off her skinny frame, the glasses, the put-up hair that’s falling out all over the place, and the Birks on her feet.

She’s so earthy, I was sorta shocked when she named her condition for letting me join this class.

“Mr. Shrike—”

“Please, Miss Aberdeen, call me Spence.” I smile again and chance a look over at Bombshell.

She’s set up in the front row. I already knew this. I’ve been doing recon on the Bomb since I first saw her in that fight with her brother in front of the bookstore.

“Very well, Spence.” Aberdeen blushes when she says my name and that’s sorta cute. “Next week your space is next to Miss Vaughn—”

She continues talking about what will happen next week. But I’m more concerned with what’s happening this week to give a shit about a time so far in the future, so I tune the rest out. I’m too busy looking over at the Blonde Bomb as she tries to process what’s being said.

I chuckle as Aberdeen walks away and Veronica Vaughn walks up. “You planned this. You’re stalking me, aren’t you?”

“Recon, baby. Not stalking.” And then I grab the hem of my shirt and pull it straight up over my head. Not too fast, Ronin taught me this too. He said the slow-mo shirt removal was one of the easiest ways to snag a girl. When I look back at Veronica her mouth is gaping open.

“What are you doing?” she hisses at me. “Put your shirt on!”

I drop the shirt to the floor and go for the pants. Veronica gasps when I pop the button and downright chokes when I go for the zipper. I hear a few cat calls from the back of the room as I slip my pants down.

I’m commando today, so His Highness just pops right out.

Every girl in the room explodes in laughter. It’s the good kind though. I know the difference. This laughter says, Holy fucking shit, I cannot believe he just took off his clothes!
“You look more like a cherry than a bombshell right now, Blondie,” I joke with her.
She shakes herself out of her silent stare and turns on her heel.

“Well,” Miss Aberdeen says as she claps her hands together in delight. “Mr. Shrike—err, Spence.” She smiles big as she says my name. “It’s too late now, obviously, but next time—”
“Next time?” Blondie says as she peeks out from behind her easel.

“—please use the dressing room over there in the corner. And put on a robe until we’re ready for you.” She bats her eyelashes at me, then steals a glance down.

“Sure thing,” I say as I wink and shoot. “Where do you want me, Miss Aberdeen?”
Veronica blushes the entire fucking class. Her face is this sexy shade of flush for ninety minutes. And every one of those ninety minutes, she thinks about nothing but me. She traces every line and curve of my body onto the paper in front of her. She licks her lips seventeen times. She sighs twenty-two times. She groans and whimpers when she makes five mistakes, and she even has a pouty frown on her face for the splittest of seconds when Aberdeen announces that class is over.

Meet the Author:

I’m Scarlett Edwards. I wrote my first book as a college sophomore. After six months of edits, it made its debut as Yours to Savor.

That was at the start of 2013. I’ve written more books since then. You can find them all here.

It’s funny how quickly life changes. I used to think I’d need a degree to get a “Real Job.” Then I wrote a few books, they got somewhat popular, and now I’m living the life as a full-time romance author.

Thanks to all my readers for making my dreams come true!

“One-Mississippi-two…” Gavin’s words wrapped around me.

I prayed silently to the same God I’d prayed to many nights before. He listened then and I hoped he’d listen now.

I grabbed two knives that were in the kit and flipped the blades open, locking them in place. The anodized orange handles were larger than the actual blades. Not comforting. I handed one to Gavin.

“There’s still a Louisville Slugger on the floor behind us,” Gavin said. His brown hair was cut short. That was one of the first things he did after we were vaccinated. A haircut and a shave to celebrate our survival. He still looked young but not as young as we both did before the outbreak.

I slid toward the center console, crawling as far from the passenger window as I could get. Gavin’s breathing was heavy, and I felt the heat rolling off him as he continued to struggle with what we were facing.

I dug around in the bottom of the bag for the zombie deterrent. My hand clasped around the ADD, also known as the Audible Distraction Device, and I dropped the kit to the floor.
The car rocked back and forth as the number of beasts grew on both sides, creating a trance-like rhythm that was terrifying.

“Grab the bat,” Gavin instructed, his voice low.

I slid my hand to his knee, squeezing it hard before I reached behind us and grabbed the wooden weapon.

The challenges we faced living off the land paled in comparison to what we faced confined in this car.

Gavin turned the engine on and sunk it into reverse, only to be stalled right where we were.
“Pedestrians in minimum safe distance,” the car warned again.

“Shut up!” I shouted at the car’s inhuman voice.

An oily residue smeared against the glass all around us from their bodies touching and gliding along the surfaces. They were crawling on the hood, metal pops sounded with every dent created. Their bodies slowly snaked up the windshield as they climbed toward the roof. Their mouths opening, jaws clicking as they tasted our scent. That was all we had separating us from zombies—glass. It would be only a matter of time before they mangled the metal above us and shattered the glass around us.

“If I get out of the car, I can distract them and you can run. I need you to run,” he said slowly, his eyes locking on mine.

“No way. I’m not—”

The glass shattered, interrupting my objection. The shards of glass crumbled down the door and into Gavin’s lap. Several mismatched arms shoved their hands through the nonexistent barrier, reaching for Gavin as I let out a scream and lunged with the knife in hand.

“Don’t watch what happens, babe. Promise me you’ll look away,” his voice pleading, as he struggled against the fleshy fingers that twisted and pulled at his shirt.

Adult Review: Entwined with You (Crosfire series, #3) by Sylvia Day

This book is suitable for Adult readers!!!
Goodread summary:
The worldwide phenomenon continues as Eva and Gideon face the demons of their pasts, and accept the consequences of their obsessive desires…

From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside–so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.

No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.

Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession…

Ah, this book was amazing!
I haven't wrote a review in a while so I'm a little out of practice but I have to at least try to summon up what I feel for this book because it's too much.

I pretty much had to make myself put the book down so I would be able to prolong the pleasure. If I hadn't restrained myself I would have probably read it on one sitting because it is that good!

“Angel, a crowd of millions couldn’t hide you from me. I found you once. I’ll always find you.”

The books starts from where Reflected in you left off and it was such an emotional roller-coaster that I felt like I was there and I was experiencing all these strong emotions. Eva and Gideon were at a very delicate position and even though I was sure that there's no way they wouldn't end up together, I still felt the worry and the anghst from what they were going trough.

“Honestly, Gideon Cross had been designed to fuck a woman right out of her mind.”

I was a little put off by all the sex because it was a huge part of the book. I know that, that is the normal condition for the characters because they can't seem to stop themselves but it was a little bit to much for my liking, even though it was well described.. in detail... Other than that, the book was amazing.

I loved all the little things that happened and there were quite a few surprises but in the end it all adds up and the book is very easy to read and it's incredibly enjoyable.

“There wasn't a second that passed when you weren't on my mind. You own me, Eva. Wherever I am, whatever I'm doing, I belong to you.”

Gideon is a very complicated character but his behavior is pretty simple when it comes to Eva. He does everything for her! His world revolves around her and he depends on her a lot to survive each day. What he did in the end of book two eats at him and it shows but in no way does it change my opinion of him. I even loved him all the more because of how torn up he was about all of it.

“I’d wait forever for you, as long as you’re mine.”
Both characters have shady pasts so there are a lot of bumps on the road ahead of them but I really liked how things worked out for them in this book. I can't wait to see what happens next because the author left plenty unanswered questions and a lot of open doors which she can now use to continue the series and I personally am very happy that there's going to be more of Eva and Gideon. This couple has an amazing story and I just can't wait to see where it leads.

 I give it:
